b'Member Resources2024 Loss Control Forum HighlightsThis years Spring Loss Control Forum convened in Charlotte, North Carolina, on April 4th and 5th. This annual event provides access to content, best practices, and subject matter experts specializing in the unique risk and loss control aspects of our bottling business. Charles Norton, CCBAs General Counsel, began the morning by welcoming attendees from approximately 20 Bottling Companies and reviewed the agenda. He also introduced and thanked Sponsors for this years Loss Control Forum, Arbill, ISN and JJ Keller. We value the support and programming options that each of these unique sponsors offers across our Coca-Cola Bottling System. These vendors and suppliers to our System not only help with efficiencies and success in our daily work, but also make the Loss Control Forum a valuable opportunity for Bottler QSE professionals to engage with them and with one another.The morning began with a presentation by Charles Franklin, Arbills Director of EH&S Managed Services with a discussion on the top ten Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations and ways to prevent these missteps. Setting and enforcing OSHA standards and providing training, outreach, education and assistance is essential to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for your employees. Following a morning break, Mark Byers of Coke Consolidated shared an overview of lessons learned and results around ergonomics practices across Very special thanks totheir organization. Ergonomics is a rich topic that can play a critical role in CCBA Loss Controlreducing injuries, preventing accidents and maintaining employee health. Forum Sponsors This presentation offered a seamless path to a panel discussion led by Charles Norton (CCBA), Doug Jansen (Atlantic Coca-Cola), and Jen Ritter (Coca-Cola Beverages Florida) on working effectively with The Coca-Cola Company and NAOU Quality Systems (QSE). This open dialogue provided an exchange of thoughts, ideas, and points of view from our Bottling community in attendance to offer an approach on setting a framework, mission and charter. Another key topic for attendees centered on managing excessive heat in light of continued weather extremes and new OSHA standards and regulatory risks that our Bottlers face. The discussion covered emerging risks across our System, and was moderated by Erin Black (Coca-Cola Beverages Florida.) After lunch, Andrew Woodard, AVP, Marsh Advisory, discussed training and illustrated how the way we measure success can have a substantial impact on the focus of our associates. Andrew reviewed ways to emphasize tracking and measuring activities that can drive change versus reactive improvements.Andrew was followed by Josh Lovan, Industry Business Advisor with J.J. Keller & Associates who offered a comprehensive regulatory update. Josh reviewed a comprehensive list of FMCSA actions in 2023 with detailed next steps, as well as 2024 rule changes. He offered an overview of CVSA events and current accident statistics, DOT drug testing and ATRI survey highlights, an overview on safety perfomance culminating in a detailed review of 2024 proposed rules and issues to watch. Following a break, ISNs Hailey Willis, Senior Supervisor Beverages and Logistics Industry walked the room through Industry Best Practices on Contractor Management as aligned to KORE requirements. Hailey discussed resources and described ways that companies can reduce risk by prequalifying and monitoring safe and sustainable third-party service providers (contractor companies and suppliers).continued page 1514'
